There are several weaknesses associated with the competitors such as lack of skilled manpower to handle the aged population, financial crisis, lack of vision, lack of understanding of the competitor's strengths an d lack of differentiation strategies. Differentiation Strategy It is important for Union Family First to develop services which identify the unique attributes as perceived by the customers. The company should implement services which fulfill the preferences of the target customers (Curley Slocum, 2016). The company must also take into account the strengths of the competitors and design the differentiation strategy accordingly. The differentiation strategy of Union Family First should consider the following points- Inductions of trained manpower that can take care of the differently abled people and provide care compassion and quality services in a safe environment (Curley Slocum, 2016). The introduction of affordable housing facilities which promotes the independence, health and the social interaction of the people suffering from Dementia and Alzheimers. Creation of a huge pool of skilled workers which would lower the compensation given to each employee. Revising the pricing structure of the company which would foster affordability and enhanced visibility in the market. The introduction of value added services to residents that would increase their satisfaction level. Intention of the company Union Family First intends to be the market leader in the assisted living industry. It aims to create exceptional, nurturing and supportive work environment to the elderly people with the help of newly formed beautiful homes (Aaker, 2012). It aims to provide extra healthcare facilities to the elderly people. The company would take extensive promotional activities to build its brand value in the market (Aaker, 2012). These efforts are taken by the company to occupy the topmost position in the market. Use of two social medium platforms The social media is a powerful tool used by the modern-day marketers. This is a wonderful tool to spread the awareness of the company within a short span of time. The promotional activities of the Union Family First should be carried out through the use of Facebook and YouTube (De Vries, Gensler Leeflang, 2012). Facebook is an effective platform that helps likeminded people to communicate with each other all across the world (De Vries, Gensler Leeflang, 2012). It has millions of users across the globe which presents lucrative opportunities for the marketers. The users express their opinions and needs, which make the company aware of the demands of the target market. YouTube is also another excellent platform for the purpose of promotion of new products (De Vries, Gensler Leeflang, 2012). The website witnesses millions of views for a particular video message, which can be used for effectively promoting a new product. This media tool would help the company to penetrate into the mark et within a short time (De Vries, Gensler Leeflang, 2012). It builds the brand value of the company in a short span of time. Integrated Marketing Communication Plan It is important to create integrated communications plan that is an expansion of the traditional as well as modern marketing strategies to ensure the communication of a consistent marketing message (Blakeman, 2014). The broad steps in the preparation of the integrated marketing communications plan are described below- Identification of the target market- The primary target audience of the organizations are mature adults in between the age of 45 and 55. The secondary target market includes the senior citizens aged above 70 years. The company should aim to understand the health concerns of the target market with the help of market surveys (Blakeman, 2014). Determine clear objectives- The clear objectives of the company would help them achieve the marketing goals easily. Design the marketing campaign- It is necessary to create the marketing campaign with traditional as well as modern methods. The traditional methods must include display ads, local television channels, billboards, personal selling and others (Blakeman, 2014). The modern communication methods would consist of the social media such as Facebook and YouTube (Blakeman, 2014). Define a positioning strategy- The positioning of the new products should be done with the help of extensive market research methods and the creation of a perceptual map (Blakeman, 2014). Monitoring of the marketing plan It is very essential to determine the effectiveness of the implemented marketing campaign. The Assisted Living industry needs certain specific monitoring tools to fulfill the long-term marketing objectives (During, 2016). The marketing activities should be analyzed by measuring attributes such as social media used, the timing of the promotional activities, the cost of the marketing campaign, return on investments, sales generated, responses generated and the number of customers exposed to the promotion (During, 2016). The cost-benefit analysis should be done which measures the benefit of the campaign in comparison with the expenditure involved. The various evaluation approaches that can be used by the company are market share analysis, quality controls, ratio analysis, marketing information system, cash flow statements, customer relationship management systems, activities of the competitors, performance of the promotion campaigns and the acceptance of the product pricing (During, 201 6). These activities are suitable for the Assisted Living industry and can address the needs of the industry. Recommendations Union Family First is a relatively new company which needs to build a strong foothold in the industry. The company should focus on increasing the brand image of the company by undertaking various marketing campaigns. It should increase its visibility in the social media. It should try to give lucrative early bird offers to the customers who would make it a favorable company in the eyes of the public. It is necessary to create an excellent differentiation strategy by leveraging the strengths as well as weaknesses of the close competitors. The company should engage in extensive advertising as well as promotional activities, especially during the initial phases. Conclusion The assisted living accommodation is a booming industry in the USA. A high level of competition exists in the industry, which makes it mandatory for the new entrants to design a suitable marketing plan. The company should aim at building trust in the community. It should use powerful marketing tools such as social media and also use the word of mouth publicity. The primary intention of the company is to gain visibility in the market within the shortest possible time. This study presents the future path of action for Union Family First and identifies the core marketing activities that should be undertaken by the company. The methods of the evaluation process are also identified which needs to be implemented in a strategic manner. This marketing plan would surely enhance the success of the company and improve the organizational effectiveness. References Aaker, D. A. (2012).Building strong brands. Simon and Schuster. Explain the Difference Between Sequence and Rate of Development free essay sample

The sequence of development is a process where an event is followed one after the other and achieves a level of succession with a series of changes or growth for example the normal sequence in which babies and children learn different skills rolling over, sitting up, lunging forward, crawling, pulling up, cruising, standing unaided, walking and finally running. If a child has difficulty meeting a milestone it can mean delays in moving onto the next one. However each child is unique and we need to remember that development is holistic, children will â€Å"usually† follow the same pattern of development but the ages in which they reach them can vary depending on the individual and if there are disabilities that may affect them. Developmental milestones are given as a broad average of expectation and so some children may stand out for reaching a milestone earlier or later than their peers. Many skills and areas of development will overlap with each other so for something that is considered a physical skill like playing netball it cannot happen without having social and cognitive skills as well. We will write a custom essay sample on Explain the Difference Between Sequence and Rate of Development or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page If a young person’s growth is different and noticeable to that of their peers this has the potential to affect their behaviour, puberty can vary widely between boys and girls and even between children of the same sex by as much as 3years, having early puberty can attract unwanted attention in the form of acne, body odour or development of breasts.Development is normally divided into different areas but it does all link and connect into one another. Physical development will affect a child’s ability to socialise, grow in confidence and become independent. The rate of development is referring to the speed in which a child will develop, the sequence will always stay the same but the rate will change, when observing a child’s development, it is important to look at all areas but the difference between the sequence and rate is important as it can highlight areas in which the child needs extra support and will help to identify if the child has a special educational need such as dyslexia. The rate at which each child develops is individual to themselves.

How College Students (and Grads) Can Gain Strategic Thinking Skills

How College Students (and Grads) Can Gain Strategic Thinking Skills Strategic thinking ranks high on almost every employer’s list of desirable traits. For example, recruiters in a Bloomberg Business report ranked strategic thinking as the 4th most important trait - but also one of the hardest skills to find in job applicants. In a Robert Half Management survey, 86% of CFOs considered the ability to think strategically to be important – with 30% listing it as â€Å"mandatory,† and 56% stating that it was â€Å"nice to have.† Unfortunately, the Robert Half survey also revealed that only 46% of employers provide any type of professional development. So, college students – and employees – need to take the initiative to develop these skills on their own. What is strategic thinking? The definition of strategic thinking may vary based on the person providing the explanation, but in its broadest sense, the term refers to the ability to identify critical situations, analytically and creatively evaluate relevant information, and determine the consequences of choosing a particular action. Dr. A.J. Marsden, an assistant professor of psychology and human services at Beacon College in Leesburg, Fla, tell ThoughtCo, â€Å"Generally speaking, strategic thinking is a cognitive process in which individuals think about, assess, view, and achieve success in their own and others’ lives.† She adds, â€Å"It is knowing how to assess a situation and pick the best option.† In a workplace setting, strategic thinking can help companies focus on what’s important. DeLynn Senna is the executive director of Robert Half Finance Accounting, and the author of a blog post on boosting strategic thinking skills. Senna tells ThoughtCo, â€Å"Strategic thinking involves finding ways to help the business prosper and going beyond the task level.† While some people erroneously assume that management and senior executives are responsible for critical thinking, Senna says, â€Å"It’s something that can impact every level of an organization, and is important for those entering the working world to develop early in their careers.† However, there’s more than just one component to strategic thinking. According to Blake Woolsey, executive vice president of the Mitchell PR firm, there are 8 characteristics that separate strategic thinkers from nonstrategic thinkers: Future-based vs. reactiveCurious vs. isolatedLong-term focus vs. short-term focusWilling to take risks vs. cautiousAble to prioritize vs. unable to prioritizeNimble vs. inflexibleLife-long learner vs. satisfiedCreative vs. predictable    Why strategic thinking is so important This trait helps individuals make better decisions so they can be successful on a personal and professional level. â€Å"Strategic thinking helps individuals focus, prioritize, and be more proactive in addressing specific issues and situations,† Marsden explains. â€Å"The main advantage to strategic thinking is that it helps people achieve their goals more quickly and efficiently -  it focuses on problem solving and creating a clear path to your goal.† Voltaire, the great French philosopher, once said, â€Å"Judge a man by his questions rather than his answers. Strategic thinking also includes the ability to ask the right questions. Dr. Linda Henman, author of â€Å"Challenge the Ordinary,† and â€Å"How to Move Beyond Indecision and Good Intentions,† tells ThoughCo, â€Å"When we start with ‘what’ and ‘why,’ we can get to the core of the issue we need to discuss or the problem we need to solve.† However, she believes that starting with the â€Å"how† question can lead to being distracted by methods.   And using the what/why principle, Henman says there are five specific advantages of strategic thinking: Strategic thinking helps us zero in on the critical few as we put aside the trivial many.Strategic thinking helps us keep a global perspective, which in turn, leads to dispassionate, logical thinking, not emotional reactions. When we think strategically, we see patterns and anticipate consequences. We can prioritize better when we think strategically.Strategy keeps us focused on the future, not the present or past. It’s easy to see why companies want employees with these skills. An organization is only as good as its employees, and it needs workers with the ability to make a significant impact. â€Å"Employers want big-picture thinkers with strong business acumen,† Senna says. â€Å"Hiring managers look for professionals who can use their expertise to develop and execute strategies and projects to help the business grow, increase profits, and maintain costs.†    How to develop strategic thinking skills Fortunately, strategic thinking skills can be developed, and there are a variety of settings and situations that provide opportunities for growth in this area. Senna offers the following tips: Volunteer to lead a project team, including one with colleagues from other departments. This can help you gain diverse perspectives and exposure to different problem-solving techniques.Look for training opportunities offered by your company, an external organization, or even a college class or webinar on the subject. Professional industry associations can be a good place to start to find this.Pair up with a mentor who can walk you through different decision-making processes and help you present your ideas to department leaders. This step can be especially valuable for those launching their careers.Tap the power of data. Learn how to turn business intelligence into actionable recommendations for the business. Marsden includes four additional tips: Be proactive about researching and gathering information that will help you make decisions in the future.   Read journals and articles that will help you be more informed. And when you don’t fully understand something, ask questions.  Constantly question your own opinions.  How did they form? What influences them? Are they logical? Be open-minded to the opinions of others.Learn how to embrace conflict and how to use it to come up with a creative solution.   Surround yourself with people who have different worldviews. This gives you (and them) an opportunity to learn from each other.Be sure to take cognitive breaks and allow your brain to rest.  Take time off for a brain break and put yourself in a different type of environment. This will help you develop perspective.

A230B Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

A230B - Essay Example Brontà « uses these characters in the novel to explore themes of evil versus good, rationality versus passion, punishment and crime, selfishness, culture and nature, revenge, sickness and health, the nature of love, and chaos and order. Brontà « exemplifies how class mobility is not always moving in the same direction. For instance, for Catherine, representing a lower class, social class plays a vital role when settling when to get married. This is the reason she cannot marry Heathcliff rather she agrees to marry Edgar. Brontà «Ã¢â‚¬â„¢s accurate and honest representation of life during an early era provides a hint of history. Brontà « reveals that even if the society of today is different from that of two centuries ago, individuals remain the same. Therefore, readers can still relate to the emotions and feelings of the main characters such as Catherine and Heathcliff and those of the supporting characters (Bronte, 2009). Since the novel’s characters are real, they are hum an subjects with human emotions. Thus, the novel is not just an affectionate romance novel but a presentation of life, a hint at relationships, and an essay on love. However, the vigorous antithesis or antagonism Brontà « presents in the novel tend to subvert. The novel’s realism in presenting life and Yorkshire landscape and the historical precision of hours, season, and dates co-exist with the dreamlike. Lastly, even towards the end of the novel, a crossover between romanticism and realism is evident. In many novels, endings are unsatisfactory and disturbing because most writers resist a definitive conclusion one which explains away any doubts and accounts for all loose ends (Watson, Towheed, & Open University, 2012). The fondness for open-endedness is an effort to resist place and time limit. Brontà « uses the effort to explain the importance of memories and dreams of other location and time, like Catherine’s memories of walks on the moors and childhood at

Nevertheless, The Broken Heart is an important contribution to our literature and one of the most penetrating books I have studied in some time. It deals with a subject that needs to be grasped by more Latter-day Saints. An understanding of grace is needed not only as we interact with members of other faiths who hold their own beliefs regarding grace, but particularly as we seek to come unto Christ through a deeper understanding and application of his Atonement. This is a book about hope, a book that extends hope. Sometimes we say, the author writes, that no other success can compensate for our failures in the home. And while it is true that no other success of ours can fully compensate, there is a success that compensates for all our failures, after all we can do in good faith. That success is the Atonement of Jesus Christ. By its power, we may arise from the ashes of life filled with incomprehensible beauty and joy (22). Certainly no message could be more vital, more central, than that. Did you know that smoking one pack of cigarettes a day for ten years could reduce your bone density by 2 percent! And if this is not shocking enough read on -Tobacco speeds artery damage. It promotes memory loss, Alzheimers disease, causes rapid skin aging, anxiety, impotence, fatigue, headaches hoarseness of voice, smokers cough, peptic ulcers, senility, cramps in the legs stained teeth and nails, hiatal hernia, heart disease cancer, osteoporosis and the list can go on and on and on ( from health magazine) The best way to give up smoking is NOW! Stop smoking is the hardest thing for a smoker, that is why some people make fun of themselves Stop smoking is so easy, see I already did it several times. If you did stop smoking, then congratulation. If you are still smoking, do not worry, there are some tips. First, drink plenty of fluids like fruit juices, vegetable juices, warm water throughout the day to help in cleansing the body and providing antioxidants to lesson the free radical irritation during the detox period. Secondly munch the carrot sticks cucumber strips, radish and plenty of raw vegetables as oral substitutes to deal with the psychological ties to smoking. Thirdly have a positive attitude towards health and life in general, stay busy to prevent boredom and to keep your mind off smoking. Maybe you can get another smoker, to stop smoking with you so that you can discuss common problems and get each others support. Furthermore indulge in health treatments such as a massage, sauna, steam, and teeth cleansing to remove cigarette stains. Lastly if your craving to smoke arises, take a brisk walk, or drink tea or do things with your hands, or exercise, or go for a swim or just practice breathing relaxation techniques, smile (even if you dont feel like) and be thankful that you are not smoking. If you are a smoker, you have undoubtedly tried to quit and have found it difficult. Believe me, it is just a question of mind over body. If you follow the steps above, you will be success.

Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay -- Malcolm X Luther King C

Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  African Americans are fortunate to have leaders who fought for a difference in Black America. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X are two powerful men in particular who brought hope to blacks in the United States. Both preached the same message about Blacks having power and strength in the midst of all the hatred that surrounded them. Even though they shared the same dream of equality for their people, the tactics they implied to make these dreams a reality were very different. The background, environment and philosophy of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X were largely responsible for the distinctly varying responses to American racism.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The early backgrounds of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr. had major impact on their goal to achieve equality between all races. Martin Luther King, Jr. was born Michael Luther King in Atlanta, Georgia on January 15, 1929. He was one of three children born to Martin Luther King Sr., pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church, and Alberta King, a former schoolteacher. Malcolm X was born Malcolm Little on May19, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska. His mother, Louise Norton Little, was a homemaker who stayed occupied with the family’s eight children. His father, Earl Little, was an outspoken Baptist minister and avid supporter of Black Nationalist leader Marcus Garvey. King attended segregated local public grammar schools in Georgia and graduated from high school at the age of fifteen after being skipped two grade levels. King then enrolled in Morehouse University in 1944 and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. He furthered his education after Morehouse at Crozer Theological Seminary in Chester, Pennsylvania and at Boston University, earning his doctorate. X attended reform school in Michigan after the death of his father. Malcolm dropped out of school after graduating from junior high school at the top of his class.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  As the years passed Malcolm and Martin took on two different lifestyles. Martin then married Coretta Scott in 1955 and into the family born two sons and two daughters. Malcolm married on January 14, 1958 to Betty Sanders and later had six daughters. King was renamed â€Å"Martin† when he was about six years old. Malcolm considered â€Å"Little† a slave name and chose the â€Å"X† to signify his lost tribal name (Rummel 157). In 1954, Martin Luther King accepted pa... ...el 125). Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X are both remembered as strong leaders who shared an equal dream that one day their people would be free from racism and oppression. They believed in this dream so strongly they sacrificed their lives for it.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Today, both men's legacy lives on and is being carried out by their loved ones. They had the same goal in mind about Black respect and pride, but were different in addressing their message. Personally, the life of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King has inspired me. Their determination and strong will to fight for something they believed in encouraged me to fight for my belief in God and values as a Black person. They also help me realize if you want something in life you have to go after it and that is what I did with furthering my education. One should use Malcolm and Martin as examples to not let anything in life get in the way of what you stand for. Even though Malcolm and Martin did not live to see their dream come true their deaths were not in vain. Although Black America still have a long way to go in overcoming racism, we have accomplished a lot in gaining rights since the death of Martin Luther King and Malcolm X.

Movie Paper Review

Michelle Jones Green block 3 1/28/13 Movie Paper Review: The Boy in Striped Pajamas The Boy in Striped Pajamas is a book that was made into a movie, set during World War Two and more specifically, the Holocaust. The book was written by John Boyne and when made into a movie was directed by Mark Herman and produced by David Heyman. The Boy in Striped Pajamas was made in 2006 and starred Asa Butterfield, Jack Scanlon, and Vera Farmiga. I read the book, The Boy in Striped Pajamas in 8th grade and watched to movie very soon after. The Boy in Striped Pajamas is based on the horrors of a World War Two Nazi Extermination Camp. This movie is through the eyes of two 8 year old boys; one whose father is a Nazi camp commandant and the other is a Jewish inmate. Bruno, the son of the Nazi commandant and his family just recently moved from Berlin to the countryside; which happens to have a Nazi Extermination Camp right nearby. The adventurous Bruno finds an unguarded fence where he meets and befrien ds Shmuel, a Jewish boy. Bruno soon learns the horrors of the war and so does his mother. When Bruno's father announces that the young boy and his mother will be going to live with their aunt in Heidelberg, Bruno grabs a shovel and makes his way to the camp to meet up with his friend, leading the movie into an awful sequence of events. None of the characters in this movie were real people but they were all accurate depictions of the soldiers and everyone at that time. The movie very accurately showed the differences in living being a Jew and living in the camps compared to everyone else.It also shows a child’s innocence and how children sometimes see the world completely different than adults, sometimes even in a better way. Bruno never saw anything wrong or different about Jewish people but his older sister Gretchen was being influenced by her tutor and a younger soldier to believe things she couldn’t fully understand. The movie showed the terrible things being done to the people in the Nazi camps and how propaganda was used to make uninformed people believe things that weren’t true. The movie accurately shows how live was in that time. The beginning of The Boy in Striped Pajamas was set in Berlin in 1942 during World War Two, Bruno and his family are moving to the countryside because of his father’s work. The setting then is never specified but we know it is near a Nazi Extermination Camp. The props in this movie were all very accurate and the lighting and way the shooting was done portrayed the devastating times that were during the Holocaust. The Boy in Striped Pajamas is a very good movie and a very accurate movie too. The actors playing the young 8 year old boys did an awesome job playing those parts especially at such a young age. The soldiers also did well playing Nazi’s and being very stern people. Overall this movie is a very accurate representation or what life was like during World War Two while adding its own plot a nd I would recommend this movie to anyone who would like to see what it was like for Jewish people and families of the soldier’s during the Holocaust.

Analysis Of The Narrative Saints And Roughnecks By...

Criminal behavior among different sets of social classes often are dealt with in society in much different ways. If you have money you have access to good representation and therefore can avert serious punishment for any crime and you are not held to the same standards as the â€Å"ordinary† person. This is clearly exemplified in the narrative â€Å"Saints and Roughnecks† by William Chambliss. His depiction is a representation of social class and how it can predispose other’s thinking about you and how you perceive yourself within a society. Chambliss discovered that the Saints were probably acting more delinquent than the roughnecks, yet they were arrested more often, perceived as failures and heading nowhere by teachers and community members. This was in large part due to their social class and lack of funds to keep them well-dressed, well-mannered when needed and well-hidden in plain sight. Both sets of boys exhibited a certain demeanor among the commun ity at large, thus adding to their â€Å"visibility† among those in positions of authority. The idea of social class and prosecution by peers and authority has existed for centuries. I recall watching a movie called â€Å"Far and Away† and the lead character was a poor Irishman who left Ireland for a better life in America. His demeanor was rough as he was a â€Å"fighter† both figuratively and literally, and he earned very little and his manner of dress provided a visibility of being low class and probably dangerous. This movie is
